Debunking Raw Myths

Debunking Raw Myths

Myth Number 1:

Cooked Meat is Better Than Raw Meat:

Cooking meat or raw food will destroy a lot of the protein, nutrients, vitamins and minerals that your dog needs to be strong and healthy. A balanced meal consists of 80% meat 10% bone & 10% offal. Cooking this, means you’ll lose a lot of the essential nutrients provided by that formulation and will need to add in extra bits to rebalance the formula.

Raw Food can Spread Salmonella:

A dogs stomach is highly acidic and much more than a humans - To be specific pH1. Salmonella can only survive in pH levels that are 4-8+ and requires around 12 hours to develop. On average it takes a dog between 8-10 hours to digest their food.

Bones are Dangerous:

Bones are essentially a dogs toothbrush. Their teeth are designed to break down bones which in turn can help improve their dental hygiene. Bones help scrape away plaque and massage gums. Raw bones are often softer and easier to digest compared to those which have been cooked or dehydrated. Yes it’s true, cooked and dehydrated bones have the possibility to crack or splinter, but that doesn’t mean they will. Always supervise your dog while they’re enjoying a bone.
