WHY WE ONLY SELL RAW
So why only raw? Here at Boston Barks our passion for canine nutrition means we only sell products that are beneficial to your dogs health! Raw is the natural choice for best mate. 130,000 years ago, you wouldn't find a wolf combing through the wheat fields, or stood making their own kibble for tea time! So why should it be any different now?
Dogs thrive on a diet that's rich in good quality meat. A raw diet does not contain fillers, additives or preservatives which are all key ingredients for health decline and usually found in kibble & wet food!
POOP BENEFITS
When your best mate consumes high volumes of fillers, additives & preservatives this results in smelly squishy poops. When consuming raw, the digestives system is better supported, resulting in odour free, solid, smaller & less frequent poops! Yep all of those are true!
HYDRATION BENEFITS
Raw food has a very high moisture content which creates natural hydration for your best mate. You will find they will drink a lot less water which is very beneficial during the summer time. More moisture also results in your dog having healthier skin & a shiny coat!
DENTAL BENEFITS
Kibble & wet foods are very high in sugar which causes dental issues such as plaque, unhealthy gums & bad breath. Having a raw diet improves dental health & hygiene as it is less likely to get stuck in your dogs teeth, resulting in plaque & tartar build up. Fresh Bones & long lasting natural chews can also help! Look at bones as your dogs toothbrush! They help to scrape away plaque and massage gums resulting in pearly white canines!
THE RAW TRANSITION
The straight swap! That's right - There is no gradual transition when it comes to raw food. The best way to start and see results quickly is to stop whatever food your dog is on and move straight to raw! This helps prevent digestive issues.
Start with 5-7 days on tripe, green tripe or tripe & heart. What is tripe I hear you ask? Tripe is the stomach lining of farm animals and is a natural probiotic. It contains digestive enzymes which can help your best mate digest their food quicker. It also contains omega 3 & 6 which helps aid immune function, skin & coat health.
After this, for a further 5 -10 days you need to move onto a meal that includes a protein as well as tripe. This can be chicken, turkey, duck, lamb or beef! Try at least two flavours before moving onto complete meals.
What is a complete meal? 80 | 10 | 10 - In other words 80% Meat, 10% bone & 10% offal (organ). Always look for the 80 | 10 | 10 stamp on your dogs raw food to ensure your'e buying the correct stuff!
